Charles Watson
Senior HR Advisor
Workforce Guardian

Charles has a strong background in HR and employment relations. His experience includes roles such as General Manager Workplace Relations and Legal Services at the Printing Industry Association of Australia and Employee Relations Advocate at NSW Road Transport Association. He has also worked for Clayton Utz and Freehills Solicitors. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (UNE) and Post-graduate studies in Industrial Relations and Advanced Industrial Law (UTS).

Charles has a particular passion developing a strong rapport with clients. In doing so, he understands the commercial and operational drivers of his clients' businesses and is able to offer practical and commercially driven solutions. Having worked in some of Australia's pre-eminent law firms and industry bodies for over 15 years, he has a depth of knowledge and experience across a broad range of industries.

Specialising in workplace relations and human resource issues, Charles has considered most aspects of workplace relations in his legal career including performance management, termination, workplace change, employment contracts, post-employment restraints, enterprise agreements, industrial disputes, company policies and internal investigations.

With a particular interest in corporate governance, Charles has also advised a wide variety of clients on appropriate strategies for managing employment law related risks faced by boardroom members.

In addition to advising clients, Charles has had a high level of success advocating for clients in workplace litigation before various Federal and State courts. Such matters include breach of contracts, employee terminations, health and safety prosecutions and advocacy for 'whole of industry' issues. He regularly appears before the Fair Work Commission and has successfully defended companies before the Full Bench of the Commission.

In his spare time, Charles is generally looking for 'clean air' on Sydney Harbour while trying to sail for a win or two.
